Medical Education Scholars in Pediatrics

Medical Education Scholars in Pediatrics (MESP) is a monthly regularly scheduled series for faculty and trainees to conduct research in medical education, viewing medical education as a primary focus for academic scholarship. These sessions are intended to foster collaboration and disseminate knowledge to promote scholarship in medical education. Success will be measured by the quantity of scholarly output in medical education per academic year and number of faculty seeking or successfully completing promotion with Education as a primary or secondary focus.

Faculty and trainees increasingly seek to conduct research in medical education, viewing medical education as a primary focus for academic scholarship.

There are few structured programs within the department to foster collaboration and disseminate knowledge to promote scholarship in medical education.

Expertise exists within the department, within the university, and outside the university to promote these ideas.

Develop programming and curriculum for scholarship in medical education within the department of Pediatrics

Develop faculty expertise to mentor trainees in medical education projects

Analyze articles and presentations related to medical education scholarship

Formulate time, resources and assistance towards members producing at least one publication, abstract and/or presentation for each academic year (faculty), or for their training duration (trainees)

Examine, through self-reflection, how implicit bias can impact scholarly work including: publications, research, scholarship and presentations

All MESP recordings can found on the Department of Pediatrics intranet page, which DOP members can access with their login and password.

MESP meets monthly during the academic school year. Monthly announcements are sent to the Department of Pediatrics the day before the session. If you would like to be added to the MESP community email address and calendar invites, email Kate Dougherty at catherine.dougherty@wisc.edu.
